PROJECT: Motto Motto cutlery holder

Motto Motto is a place so nice they named it twice. Literally translating to “more more” in Japanese,. Northsiders were stoked to hear that the healthy Japanese eatery was coming to Westfield Chermside, bringing with it both delicious food and its famous contemporary design. Colour Chiefs jumped at the chance to be part of this launch, with our team being tasked to create an all-in-one cutlery holder in keeping with the venue’s signature sleek aesthetic.

The brief was to create a device that holds cutlery, serviettes and an A5 menu for the brand-new store, keeping the tables free of clutter – all the more room for eating, right? The device was a collaborative effort, designed in conjunction with Adam Gower at ACG Creative Co. The holders were designed in CAD and then constructed from laser cut green acrylic with the logo laser etched and white paint filled, making it really pop. The base and back were milled from 7mm hardwood ply that was stained to match American Oak. The team went the extra mile with this one, adding a unique feature in the form of a 3D printed ‘still dining’ / ‘finished dining’ slider with cherry timber veneer fascia.

As for the results? Take a look for yourself – we think you’ll agree that the holders are pretty swish.
