ColourChiefs and the Environment |
ColourChiefs takes it's impact on the natural environment and consumption and use of resources and material seriously. We endeavor to reuse and recycle as much material as possible used in the production of prepress and print product.
With regard to paper consumption, we have been recycling paper waste from the digital printing department for many years with Australian paper Recycling. We also provide make-ready (unmarked paper that has run through each printing press) sheets to local community groups and schools for use in their own projects. We dispose of sensitive material through a secure document destruction service, and this paper is recycled once shredded. Being a digital printer we operate in a waterless printing environment, using non-harmful chemicals in the use and maintenance of our printing machines.
ColourChiefs has recently signed up with the Queensland Government's Environmental Protection Agency's EcoBiz programme. We are proactivley undertaking a comprehensive audit of material and energy consumption and waste generation to reduce our demand on natural resources and raw materials, and reducing the volume of waste that leaves ColourChiefs for landfill. This goes beyond paper recycling to include issues such as (fluorescent) light bulb, toner cartridge and plastic recycllng to electricity and water consumption reduction. |
